Can AI agents automate Wolfram Mathematica?

Wolfram Mathematica is automatable today through first-party MCP. This record is the Mathematica / Wolfram Language product, including Local MCP built into Version 15 of Mathematica or Wolfram|One and hosted Cloud MCP. It is not MATLAB and not standalone Wolfram|Alpha website use. Cloud MCP is at https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp and is documented as a free limited remote service for clients that do not have a local Wolfram product. Local MCP requires Mathematica, Wolfram|One, or a licensed Wolfram Engine and can evaluate Wolfram Language, query Wolfram|Alpha, read and write notebooks, and install into Claude, Cursor, and other clients via InstallMCPServer. wolframscript is the official CLI for local, cloud, and deployed API evaluation, with -authenticate and -permissionskey. HTTP APIs exist as CloudDeploy[APIFunction[...]] endpoints, not as a desktop-control REST admin API. Official Python and C/C++ WSTP clients are documented on the Engine page. Computer-use viability is unassessed. MCP and CLI both score 7; MCP is the best path because Cloud MCP is the lowest-friction agent connector and Local MCP is built into Version 15.
