Can AI agents automate Ansys Mechanical?

Ansys Mechanical is automatable today through the official Mechanical scripting API and PyMechanical, with a maintained first-party MCP server as a second path. This record is the structural finite-element desktop solver (structural, thermal, acoustics, transient, nonlinear). It is not Ansys Fluent as a standalone CFD identity, not MATLAB, and not Siemens NX. Ansys documents an IronPython and CPython scripting interface that creates, modifies, and runs simulations and reads results. PyMechanical is the official open-source Python library for the same object model from 2024 R2 onward, in embedding mode or as a remote gRPC session. The official PyMechanical-MCP package (ansys-mechanical-mcp, published by ANSYS, Inc.) exposes session launch and connect, script execution, solve, file transfer, result export, and workflow guidance over STDIO or HTTP. It needs a licensed Mechanical install. A separate community MCP (vorobjewsen30-max/ansys-mcp-server) wraps PyAnsys for Mechanical, Fluent, MAPDL, DPF, and meshing; its README states it is not affiliated with Ansys or Synopsys. ACT remains the official extension toolkit. The ansys-mechanical CLI launches revision-specific sessions and can run an input script and exit. Named iPaaS connectors were not opened.
