Can AI agents automate New Relic?

New Relic observability is automatable today through NerdGraph, the vendor GraphQL API. Queries and mutations use a user key in the API-Key header against regional endpoints (US https://api.newrelic.com/graphql, EU, and JP). NerdGraph can query entities, run NRQL, and configure alerts, dashboards, workloads, tags, and other features. REST API v2 remains available with the same user key at api.newrelic.com/v2 but is in maintenance as NerdGraph replaces it, and REST v2 is not available in every region. Official Telemetry SDKs send metrics, events, logs, and traces from Java, Python, Node/TypeScript, and Go using a license key; they are ingest libraries, not a full query SDK. Official newrelic CLI installs on Linux, macOS, and Windows, stores a user-key profile, and can search APM apps, manage entity tags, record deployments, and run NerdGraph. A first-party MCP server in preview is hosted at https://mcp.newrelic.com/mcp/ (EU and JP regional URLs also published). Auth is OAuth or an Api-Key / api-key header. Tools cover discovery, NRQL, alerting, incident response, and performance analysis and inherit the key's RBAC. This record excludes Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, and Sentry. Computer-use viability is unassessed. API scores 8 and is the best path because MCP remains preview.
