Can AI agents automate Microsoft Teams?
Microsoft · hybrid · collaborationcommunications
Microsoft Teams has a broad but permission-sensitive automation surface. Microsoft Graph v1.0 reads and writes teams, channels, memberships, chats, messages, apps, online meetings, calls, presence, Shifts, and related teamwork resources; change notifications provide low-latency events and avoid prohibited high-frequency polling. Microsoft Graph SDKs cover seven mainstream languages. Teams PowerShell 7.8.1 supplies a maintained, cross-platform administration path for teams, users, policies, meetings, calling, voice, and tenant configuration. Teams apps add tabs, bots, message extensions, meeting apps, agents, and webhooks, while Microsoft's standard Power Automate connector supplies practical message, card, meeting, membership, and workflow actions and triggers. Some Graph capabilities remain beta, tenant-wide access and application permissions require administrator control, and connector features depend on Teams policy and licensing. Teams APIs ceased to be metered in August 2025, but separate product and feature licenses still apply. Current official MCP discovery did not establish a first-party Teams data server, so MCP remains unknown rather than absent. Computer-use viability is unassessed.
