Can AI agents automate Microsoft Project?

Microsoft Project is automatable today through Project Online REST and CSOM, not through monday.com, Smartsheet, or Asana. The ProjectServer REST entry point is https://ServerName/pwaName/_api/ProjectServer and supports create, read, update, and delete. A separate /_api/ProjectData OData feed is documented as read-only reporting. Authentication is SharePoint authentication on the Project Web App site; the opened CSOM sample uses SharePointOnlineCredentials, and Project apps do not use SharePoint app-only authentication. Desktop Project remains automatable locally through the published VBA object model. Microsoft publishes a first-party Project Online connector for Power Automate with project, task, resource, checkout, and publish actions, throttled at 100 calls per 60 seconds. A Microsoft Graph Project resource was not found at the opened Learn URL. Project schedule APIs on Dataverse exist under Dynamics 365 Project Operations and require a Microsoft Project license; application users cannot call them. Microsoft Support's Planner FAQ states Project for the web was retired in August 2025 and users were moved to Planner. That Planner identity is outside this record. First-party MCP ownership is not established. Computer-use viability is unassessed. API scores 6 and is the best path because it covers Project Online without a Power Automate tenant.
