Can AI agents automate Microsoft Power Apps?
Microsoft · saas · low-codeplatformdeveloper-tools
Microsoft Power Apps is automatable today through Power Platform REST and Power Platform CLI. This record is the canvas and model-driven maker studio. It is not Microsoft Dataverse, not Power Automate, and not Dynamics 365 apps as standalone products. Administrators list and get apps at GET https://api.powerplatform.com/powerapps/environments/{environmentId}/apps with api-version=2024-10-01. Callers send a Microsoft Entra bearer token scoped to https://api.powerplatform.com/.default. Delegated tokens act as the signed-in user. Service principals use client credentials plus a Power Platform RBAC role; the Power Platform API documents delegated permissions only for user apps. Coverage is partial because the opened maker API manages app artifacts, not in-studio control authoring, and Dataverse Web API remains the Dataverse product's data plane. pac canvas list, download, and create operate on .msapp files. pack and unpack are deprecated in favor of Power Platform Git integration. A first-party Power Apps MCP server is not established on the opened pages. Dataverse MCP belongs to the microsoft-dataverse record. Connector catalogs were not opened. Computer-use viability is unassessed. API scores 7 and is the best path. CLI scores 6 because pack/unpack are deprecated and some pac commands are Windows-only.
Best path today: api · Overall automatability: 7/10
