Can AI agents automate Linear?

Linear is automatable today through a first-party hosted MCP server and the same GraphQL API Linear uses internally. The remote MCP endpoint at mcp.linear.app uses Streamable HTTP, OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration, or a bearer API key, and it can find, create, and update issues, projects, and comments, with a dedicated read-only URL and read scope. Linear documents first-party setup for Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Zed, Codex, and other MCP clients. The GraphQL API at api.linear.app is broader: it introspects the full schema, supports queries and mutations for issues, teams, projects, comments, and related objects, and authenticates with OAuth 2.0 (authorization code, PKCE, refresh tokens, and optional client-credentials app tokens) or personal API keys. An official TypeScript SDK, signed organization webhooks, a developer-preview Agent platform, CSV and API export, and in-product plus CLI importers sit on the same surface. API access and MCP access appear on the Free plan; OAuth apps are limited to 5,000 requests and 2,000,000 complexity points per user per hour, and some product features remain plan-gated. The official CLI is an importer, not a general issue CLI. Zapier, Make, and n8n have Linear connectors; Microsoft's connector catalog had no Linear Power Automate connector on 2026-08-21. Computer-use viability is unassessed.
