Can AI agents automate Google Slides?
Google · saas · productivitypresentationsenterprise
Google Slides is automatable today through the Slides API. This record is Google Slides presentations, not Docs, Sheets, Drive, or Microsoft PowerPoint. The HTTPS JSON REST service at slides.googleapis.com creates presentations, returns structured pages and elements, and applies atomic batchUpdate requests for slides, shapes, tables, text, images, video, charts, and transforms. Object IDs can change after UI edits, so long-lived clients should rediscover objects by content. OAuth 2.0 user consent is the normal access path. Service accounts can use domain-wide delegation. Google publishes official client libraries in common languages. Google also hosts a remote Slides MCP server at https://slidesmcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1 in Developer Preview with tools read_presentation and update_presentation. MCP uses OAuth 2.0 and inherits the user's Slides permissions. Google warns about indirect prompt injection. The Cloud supported-products Workspace table opened on 2026-09-16 listed Drive, Gmail, Calendar, Chat, and People and did not repeat a Slides row; the dedicated Slides MCP configuration page is the opened Slides MCP evidence. An official Slides CLI and connector catalogs were not opened. Computer-use viability is unassessed. API scores 8 and is the best path because REST create and batchUpdate do not depend on the two-tool Developer Preview MCP program.
