AVEVA E3D Design is automatable today through first-party Programmable Macro Language (PML) and official .NET APIs, not through a PI Web API-style REST catalog. This record is the plant and marine 3D design application. It is not AVEVA PI System. The opened AVEVA E3D Design documentation bundle includes customization chapters for PML, .NET customization architecture, database interfaces (DbElement create, modify, delete, navigation), geometry interfaces, PML.NET, and C# add-ins. E3D Design is the successor to AVEVA PDMS (Plant Design Management System, launched 1976; Everything3D launched 2012). AVEVA says E3D remains compatible with later PDMS versions while PDMS is to be phased out, and that E3D 3.1 is available on premises and in the cloud as part of AVEVA Unified Engineering. Licensing is commercial AVEVA Flex subscription spanning cloud, hybrid, and on-premises. No first-party MCP, general operations CLI, named low-code connector, or computer-use result was established.
