Can AI agents automate Zettle by PayPal?
PayPal · hybrid · paymentsretailpoint-of-sale
Zettle has a mature developer platform for point-of-sale and merchant-data integrations. Its REST APIs cover product-library CRUD, variant images, inventory tracking and balance adjustments, purchase retrieval, finance transactions, gift-card purchases, merchant identity, OAuth application lifecycle, and webhook subscriptions. The Pusher API delivers product, purchase, and inventory changes so synchronizers do not need to poll. Zettle supports merchant-authorized OAuth code grants with PKCE and refresh-token rotation for partner, web, and mobile applications, plus merchant-created JWT assertion keys for self-hosted integrations. Official iOS and Android payment SDKs let approved apps take card and contactless payments with supported Zettle readers and mobile devices. Access is permission-scoped by merchant, tokens are short-lived, and partner or payment integrations need app credentials and review. Inventory updates are delta-based, API rate and pagination limits vary, and payments, refunds, and merchant data are consequential operations that need sandbox or test-mode qualification and explicit approval. The separate first-party PayPal MCP server was not treated as Zettle coverage because its documented tools do not establish Zettle product, inventory, purchase, or reader operations. No Zettle-specific first-party MCP, general CLI, repeatable RPA result, or computer-use result was established.
