Can AI agents automate Workday?

Workday Human Capital Management is automatable today through tenant APIs on the Workday Cloud Platform API Gateway. REST APIs at api.workday.com handle small JSON self-service transactions such as worker reads and updates. SOAP Human Resources and related Workday Web Services handle bulk, scheduled system-to-system exchange in XML, including Get Workers. The Graph API consolidates complex reads and mutations into one GraphQL request. Custom reports can be published as Reports-as-a-Service in XML or JSON, and Workday Query Language can return tenanted datasets. Authentication uses OAuth 2 authorization-code, PKCE, and client- credentials flows against auth.api.workday.com, with Integration System Users as the service principal and security-domain policies on every operation. Access tokens expire after 60 minutes. Synchronous REST and SOAP calls time out at five minutes; Graph times out at three. REST is not intended for bulk import or export. Workday documents WDCLI for Developer Site Integration and Extend app management; that tool is outside this HCM product boundary, so the HCM command-line path stays unknown. Zapier, Make, and Microsoft Power Automate publish Workday HCM connectors with hire, worker, organization, and related actions; Make requires an Enterprise plan and the Power Automate connector is preview. n8n had no built-in Workday node on 2026-08-21. Community MCP servers are listed in the official registry; Workday developer documentation does not establish a first-party server. Computer-use viability is unassessed. Workday Financial Management shares some tenant APIs and iPaaS actions when entitled, but is not scored as a separate product here.
