Can AI agents automate Semrush?

Semrush is automatable today through Semrush public APIs and a first-party hosted MCP server. This record is Semrush SEO, traffic, and market-intelligence data, not Ahrefs, Google Analytics, or Adobe Analytics. Version 4 APIs authenticate with a v4 API key in Authorization: Apikey or, for some method groups, OAuth 2.0 Bearer tokens. Version 4 SEO report endpoints return CSV or JSON. Version 3 Analytics/SEO methods remain for reports not yet migrated and return CSV. API calls consume Semrush API units. Semrush hosts a streamable HTTP MCP server at https://mcp.semrush.com/v2/mcp. MCP exposes Trends API data, SEO API data, and read-only Projects API v3 methods. It uses OAuth by default or an API key header. Eligible Semrush One / SEO Classic plans and separate Trends API subscriptions gate which reports an agent can run. Documented MCP discovery tools include domain_overview, organic_research, keyword_research, backlinks_research, and execute_report. Connector catalogs were not opened. Computer-use viability is unassessed. API scores 7 and is the best path because Version 4 and remaining Version 3 methods include write-capable Project routes that MCP documents as read-only.
