Can AI agents automate Hugging Face Hub?

Hugging Face Hub is automatable today through the Hub REST API at https://huggingface.co. The vendor OpenAPI catalog documents read and write endpoints for models, datasets, Spaces, organizations, Jobs, and related Hub resources. Callers authenticate with User Access Tokens or with OAuth 2.0 access tokens as Authorization Bearer. Official clients are huggingface_hub for Python and @huggingface/hub for JavaScript. The official hf CLI, shipped with huggingface_hub and as a standalone installer, runs non-interactive upload, download, repo, Jobs, and listing commands and accepts --json and --format agent output. Hugging Face hosts a first-party remote MCP server at https://huggingface.co/mcp. Built-in tools search models, datasets, Spaces, papers, and documentation and can run Jobs and sandboxes. Extra tools such as Contribute Repos are opt-in. Community Gradio Spaces can be added as tools and require a read token. Hub webhooks POST JSON for repo, discussion, and comment events, capped at 1,000 deliveries per 24 hours, and cannot be defined on an organization account. All Hub API calls are rate-limited by plan. Zapier, Make, n8n, and Power Automate publish Hugging Face connectors, but the opened listings run inference tasks on models rather than Hub repository administration. Computer-use viability is unassessed. API and CLI both score 8; API is the best path because it is the machine contract and MCP remains a narrower, settings- gated slice of the same Hub surface.
