Can AI agents automate FME Form?

FME Form is automatable today through the official fme command-line utility and the FME Objects Python API on a licensed desktop install. This record is FME Form, the no-code workspace authoring application formerly called FME Desktop. It is not FME Flow. Safe's platform page separates Form authoring from Flow deployment. Current downloads list FME 2026.2 as the current Form/Flow family version, with 2026.1 starting quarterly YYYY.Release numbering. The Form installer can install an SDK that exposes FME Objects and FME Plug-in Builder APIs. The Python FME API documents fmeobjects, including FMEWorkspaceRunner.runWithParameters for non-interactive workspace runs, plus PythonCaller and PythonCreator transformers. The fme CLI runs mapping files and workspaces, lists transformers, and executes COMMAND_FILE batch sessions without restarting FME between lines. Command-file examples pass --SourceDataset and --DestDataset into .fmw workspaces. Material limits are a local licensed Form install, Workbench-oriented authoring remaining a GUI task, and production orchestration often moving to FME Flow. Safe's marketing page documents MCP on FME Flow (MCPCaller and a governed Flow layer), not a Form MCP. First-party Form MCP ownership is therefore unknown. Computer-use viability is unassessed. CLI scores 7 and is the best path because it is official, non-interactive, and does not require embedding fmeobjects. The in-process Python API scores 6.
