Can AI agents automate Fastly?

Fastly is automatable today through a public REST API and an official CLI. The REST API is hosted at https://api.fastly.com and authenticates with a Fastly-Key API token. Fastly documents official clients in Go, JavaScript, PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby, and Rust. Coverage is the control plane for services, TLS, ACLs, stats, and related objects, not every dashboard action, and writes are rate-limited to 1,000 requests per hour by default. The official CLI (`fastly`) is an open-source tool for the same API; `fastly auth login` stores a token by paste or SSO. First-party MCP is the Fastly-owned local server in github.com/fastly/mcp. It wraps Fastly CLI commands over stdio, HTTP, or SSE. It is not a hosted mcp.fastly.com endpoint. Destructive CLI actions require `--user-reviewed`, and auth/profile commands are blocked. This record excludes Cloudflare, CloudFront, and Akamai. Connector catalogs were not opened. Computer-use viability is unassessed. API and CLI both score 8; API is the best path because it is the portable documented contract and does not require a local MCP binary.
