The generally available Photoshop API v2 is an asynchronous, REST-like and OpenAPI-described Firefly Services surface for document and layer inspection, composite creation, smart-object replacement, text and artboard operations, format conversion, background removal, smart crops, ActionJSON, ATN actions, and direct UXP-script execution. Jobs can return status by polling or Adobe I/O Events webhooks, and v2 accepts presigned, Azure, Creative Cloud, embedded, or short-lived Adobe-hosted storage destinations. Adobe documents files up to 5 GB and consistent job errors, but enterprise Firefly Services entitlement, server-held OAuth credentials, call limits, single-file input, asynchronous orchestration, and the July 31, 2026 v1 end-of-life make v2 qualification essential. Adobe's maintained Node SDK covers Photoshop APIs from JavaScript and TypeScript. On licensed Windows and macOS desktops, modern UXP JavaScript scripts can run headlessly or with minimal UI, manipulate the Photoshop DOM, and fall back to batchPlay; UXP plugins add panels, network access, persistence, distribution, and optional C++ hybrid components. No product-specific first-party MCP, general business CLI, named low-code connector result, repeatable visual RPA result, or computer-use result was established.
