Can AI agents automate WordPress.com?

WordPress.com is automatable today through a documented REST API. This record is Automattic-hosted WordPress.com sites and account administration. It is not WooCommerce, and it is not self-hosted WordPress.org except where a Jetpack-connected site uses the same public-api.wordpress.com contract. Authenticated REST calls use OAuth2 Bearer tokens from an authorization-code flow or a password/application-password grant. The base URL is https://public-api.wordpress.com/{namespace}/{version}/... across /rest/, /wp/, and /wpcom/. Documented resources include users, sites, posts, comments, taxonomy, media, and stats. Automattic documents a first-party remote MCP server at https://public-api.wordpress.com/wpcom/v2/mcp/v1 using OAuth 2.1. MCP is available on paid plans, with a 30-day window on free sites. Jetpack AI or Jetpack Complete can enable MCP on connected self-hosted sites. Write operations require user confirmation. Developer MCP docs say read tools default on and write tools default off; the support page says enabling MCP turns both Read and Write groups on. Official WP-CLI is preinstalled and reachable over SSH on Business and Commerce plans only. Sites can export WXR XML of posts, pages, and comments.
