Can AI agents automate Tekla Structures?

Tekla Structures is automatable today through the first-party Tekla Open API, a maintained .NET object model that talks to a running licensed Windows session. Official assemblies cover model objects, drawings, catalogs, plug-ins, custom properties, IFC export overrides, NC file creation, and model-sharing operations. Developers write C# applications, in-process plug-ins, or runtime-compiled macros in Visual Studio, consume the Tekla.Structures NuGet packages, and package extensions as TSEP files for Tekla Warehouse. The API can also record and replay user-interface actions. Trimble documents Open API capabilities on Carbon, Graphite, Diamond, and trial subscriptions, but modeling, production drawings, and some CNC exports remain plan-gated, and from 2026 extensions must be 64-bit. The path is local and version-coupled: the product must be running with an open model, assemblies match the installed release, and Windows 11 x64 is the only supported desktop OS. Community MCP servers wrap the same Open API; the official MCP registry had no Tekla server on 2026-08-21, and Trimble developer pages do not establish first-party MCP ownership. Zapier, Make, Microsoft Power Automate, and n8n had no product-named connector in their public catalogs on that date. Computer-use viability is unassessed.
