Suomi.fi e-Identification is automatable today as a SAML 2.0 identification broker for Finnish public e-services, not as Suomi.fi Messages, e-Authorizations, or Kanta. The live interface opened in this pass is SAML 2.0 only. Parties exchange signed SAML messages through the end-user browser over HTTPS. Identification requests must be signed with at least SHA-256. Trust is established through metadata and certificates exchanged in Suomi.fi Service Management. SSO sessions last 32 minutes; service providers must support SAML single logout, and back-channel SLO is not supported. An OpenID Connect interface is announced for late 2026 in test and production, with SAML remaining supported until 1 June 2028. Production use requires an access licence; the test environment does not. Some organisations are asked for invoicing details when the service is subject to a fee. First-party MCP was not established.
