Can AI agents automate Meilisearch?

Meilisearch · hybrid · developer-toolssaas-platform

Meilisearch is automatable today through its HTTP API. This record is the Meilisearch search engine, including Meilisearch Cloud and self-hosted instances. Algolia, Typesense, and Elasticsearch are separate products. Requests send an API key or the master key as Authorization: Bearer. The opened search route is POST /indexes/{index_uid}/search. By default it returns at most 1000 hits unless pagination.maxTotalHits is raised. The OpenAPI description on that page is version 1.54.0 and identifies the license as MIT. Official client snippets on the security page cover JavaScript, Python, PHP, Java, Ruby, Go, C#, Rust, Swift, and Dart. Meilisearch also ships a native MCP route at POST /mcp on the project host. It is experimental, off until mcpRoute is enabled, and requires v1.54 or later. The four tools are listIndexes, describeIndex, searchInIndexes, and facetSearch. They are read-only. The key needs indexes.get, documents.get, and search; the default Search API key cannot list or describe indexes. There is no OAuth flow. The vendor-owned meilisearch-mcp Python package is documented as deprecated in favor of this route. A management CLI, webhook subscriptions, and connector catalogs were not established. The repository LICENSE file is SPDX MIT AND BUSL-1.1: the Enterprise Edition is Business Source License 1.1 and the other parts are MIT. Cloud starts at $20 per month with a 14-day trial. https://www.meilisearch.com/docs/llms.txt is a documentation index. Computer-use viability is unassessed. The API scores 8 and is the best path. The experimental read-only MCP scores 4.
