Can AI agents automate Confluence?
Atlassian · hybrid · documentscollaboration
Confluence Cloud has broad, permission-aware automation through REST API v2, Forge, events, automation rules, Atlassian's Teamwork Graph CLI, and the first-party Rovo MCP server. REST v2 covers pages, blog posts, spaces, comments, attachments, databases, whiteboards, folders, labels, tasks, versions, permissions, properties, and administration under OAuth, API token, or app authentication. Forge supplies Atlassian-hosted JavaScript app execution and product events. The stable TWG CLI has agent-oriented read and write commands for the main content types and subresources, structured output, authenticated API fallback, and PDF or Word export. Rovo MCP searches with CQL and reads spaces, pages, descendants, and comments; it also creates and updates pages and creates inline or footer comments under organization permission groups and existing Confluence permissions. Rovo MCP and TWG CLI target Atlassian Cloud. Confluence Data Center has a separate REST, Java, module, and webhook surface. Computer-use viability is unassessed.
