Can AI agents automate Cognite Data Fusion?

Cognite Data Fusion (CDF) is automatable today through its public REST API and official SDKs. This record is the CDF industrial DataOps platform: a cloud knowledge graph over IT, OT, and ET sources. It is not Palantir Foundry, AVEVA PI System, or Inductive Automation Ignition. Stable REST calls use path /api/v1/projects/{project}/... with calendar version 20230101 via the Cdf-Version header (the default when the header is omitted). Auth is OAuth 2.0 / OIDC against the customer's IdP. Documented grants are client credentials for service principals and authorization code with PKCE for user apps. CDF currently supports Microsoft Entra ID and Amazon Cognito. The Python SDK still documents an API-key credential provider when OIDC has not been enabled on a project. Official SDKs are cognite-sdk (Python) and @cognite/sdk (JavaScript). Java, Scala, .NET, and Rust SDKs are documented as community-supported. Cognite publishes two first-party MCP servers that must not be confused. The documentation MCP on docs.cognite.com is read-only public docs, API specs, and examples; it does not see CDF projects or credentials. Industrial MCP is copied from the Data fusion or Atlas AI workspace and exposes the same query, time series, and document tools Atlas AI agents use, scoped to the signed-in user's permissions and selected location. The Cognite Toolkit CLI (pip install cognite-toolkit; cdf) deploys project configuration as files. @cognite/cli is a separate official CLI for Flows apps and Atlas AI agents. Connector catalogs were not opened. Computer-use viability is unassessed. API scores 8 and is the best path. MCP scores 7: official and useful, with a docs-versus data-plane split and user-permission gates on Industrial MCP. CLI scores 7.
