Avalara E-Invoicing and Live Reporting is automatable today through its REST API. This record is the e-invoicing and live-reporting product. Avalara AvaTax and Avalara Returns are separate products. E-Invoicing API v1.6 uses the sandbox base URL https://api.sbx.avalara.com/einvoicing. Callers send avalara-version and obtain an access token from POST /connect/token with grant_type=client_credentials, using a client id and client secret generated in the Avalara portal. Only one active credential set is allowed, and generating a new secret revokes the previous one. POST /documents accepts a UBL document, returns a document id, and can start transmission to the tax authority. GET /documents/{documentId}/status and GET /documents/{documentId}/$download return status and a copy of the document. The same v1.6 surface lists mandates, code lists, and trading partners. Webhook subscriptions are created at POST /einvoicing/webhooks/subscriptions for document.complete, document.pending, and document.error, with an HMAC SHA-256 signature. The Avalara Unified SDK publishes generated clients for C#, Java, TypeScript, PHP, Ruby, and Python. The hosted MCP server at https://mcp.avalara.com/elr is first-party. Its install snippet is an HTTP URL. The opened tool table is get_document_status, get_document, get_error_analysis, search_trading_partners, and semantic_search_documents. That is retrieval, error analysis, and directory search. Document submission stays on the REST API. Avalara's MCP overview describes an OAuth consent redirect for MCP clients. iPaaS connector catalogs were not opened. A first-party CLI was not established. Computer-use viability is unassessed.
